Building what's below the surface

Subnite is a prime contractor for underground utility work — telecom, power, water and sewer. We design the route, bore the hole, build the duct, place and splice the cable, and hand back the as-builts — all under one contract.

Services

One contract,
the whole route

Four capabilities most owners have to buy separately. Holding them together is the point: the route that gets designed is the route that gets built, and the crew that places the cable is the crew that splices it.

Infrastructure

Infrastructure projects

Complete underground builds delivered as prime: duct bank, vaults, mains and services, from notice to proceed through restoration and final acceptance. You award one contract for the route, not a separate one for every phase of it.

  • Duct systems
  • Handholes & vaults
  • Water & sewer mains
  • Tie-ins
  • Restoration

Underground

Boring & excavation

Directional drilling and open cut for duct, cable and pipe across telecom, power, water and sewer — road, rail and waterway crossings included. We pothole before the pilot bore, and the surface goes back the way it came up.

  • HDD
  • Trenching
  • Vacuum excavation
  • Road bores
  • Casing & carrier pipe

Technology

Cable placement & splicing

Cable pulled or jetted into new and existing duct, then fusion spliced, terminated and tested. Every splice gets documented — OTDR traces and as-builts ship with the job, not weeks behind it.

  • Cable placement
  • Fiber jetting & pulling
  • Fusion splicing
  • Terminations
  • OTDR testing
  • As-builts

Engineering

Route & permitting

Route design, plan and profile drawings, utility coordination and permit packages, filed in our own name. This is the phase that decides whether construction runs clean or sits waiting at the right-of-way.

  • Plan & profile
  • Permitting
  • Utility coordination

How we work

Clean bores, straight tie-ins, no surprises at the right-of-way

Engineered first

Every route gets designed and permitted before a machine moves. Locates, potholes and utility coordination up front is what keeps a bore from becoming an incident report.

Minimal disruption

Trenchless where trenchless makes sense. Fewer open cuts means less traffic control, fewer angry property owners and a surface that doesn't need a second visit.

Documented handover

As-builts, test results and photos delivered with the job. If someone has to find this duct in five years, they'll be able to.

Contract

Prime, not sub

We hold the contract with the owner and answer for the full scope — design, permits, construction, closeout.

Method

Design–build

One team prices the route it designed, so the estimate and the field work don't come from two different sets of assumptions.

Crews

Self-performed

The ground work is ours. Specialty trades get brought in under our contract, managed by us, not routed back to you.

About Subnite

Underground work,
done like engineering

Subnite is an underground infrastructure contractor based in Madison, Wisconsin. We take work as prime — carriers, utilities and municipalities award the contract to us directly, and we carry it from route design through permitting, construction, testing and closeout.

The company was built around a simple idea: the crew that bores the hole should understand the drawing, and the person who drew it should have stood on the site. That means one contract, one schedule and one number to call — and no argument about who owns the delay when a locate comes back wrong.

We work in telecom, power, water and sewer, on everything from a single road crossing to a multi-mile backbone build.
